Alabama DB Terrion Arnold Gave A Masterclass Answer On How To Handle Nick Saban

That right there is a kid who gets it.

It doesn't matter if it's football or what, Terrion Arnold is a guy who is going to go on and do great things in life. Just that one answer alone is all it takes to know that he'll be wildly successful on or off the field. Because he already has such a leg up on most of society at the moment.

"You have to not hear how he's saying it, but you have to hear what he's saying".

It's something that so many people don't understand. You see it at the youth level, and you see it at the highest level of sports. Players who just completely shut down the moment a coach starts ripping into them because, for some reason or another, they can't separate the message from the packaging. Maybe they feel disrespected by the yelling. Maybe they're just afraid of the tone. Whatever it may be, they just have no idea how to handle tough coaching.

And to be fair, there are certainly some "hard" coaches out there who are just a bunch of pricks for no reason. Just a bunch of angry coaches looking to take out their frustration on others. But most of the best coaches out there are intense for a reason. And that reason is because they care. And when they care so much, they're going to lose their shit in the heat of the moment and start chewing someone out. Some athletes realize it's just the heat of the moment and focus on the messaging, others will throw a tantrum on the sidelines and shut down for the rest of the game because they got yelled at.

Sidenote: This video should probably be mandatory to watch for every parent of a high school athlete in America right now. If you have a kid who isn't coachable and able to take in constructive criticism, that typically starts at home. Great to see a kid like Terrion Arnold who was clearly raised right.
